Tiz Me

I'm a gamer from way back.

I'm definitely NOT the target audience for most gamers, or at least the games I like to play!

My age-wise peers are more into Farmville, Candy Crush or Spider Solitaire, than MMORPG online games.

In fact I recently, well a few years ago, came out of the 'closet' so to speak to friends.  They didn't know my well kept secret and were mildly surprised.

Try explaining grouping, questing, avatars, PvP, a boss fight to a non-gamer.  I've done it and it would have been a hysterical YouTube video.

Anyway, I grew up playing games; board games, card games and make believe fantasy; it's what kids did. We created our 'worlds' as that's what you had to do.

Then came Pong.

Remember Pong?  Yeah, played it when it was new. It was fantastic...at the time!  We were the first ones with it on the block in fact, so our house was filled with all the other kids watching that so-exciting game.

Arcade games came along then - Galaga, Pac Man, Galaxian, Frogger, Ms. Pac Man, Space Invaders, Centipede - too many quarters spent on those in the '80's.
                                                                                                                  Galaga one of my favorites

My first PC at home came my way in 1988.  I started playing and downloading games with AOL and CompuServe at horrific dial up speeds.  Go make lunch and things might be downloaded!  I did try EverQuest, but my PC at the time couldn't handle it and my wallet couldn't handle a new PC.

I never really got into console gaming so Mario Brothers has never been my thing (going out with friends trumped gaming at home then), I played it a bit, but not enough to buy an Atari or Sega.

I did spend time playing many of the early puzzle and maze type games.  Wolfenstein 3D gave me motion sickness and had to take Dramamine to finish that one!  There was Prince of Persia and so many others, I've lost track of the names, although I still have most on the original floppies (future artwork for the gaming room!).  I don't think I have a machine capable of playing those games now, but the games are still in a box!  I know most are available online, but I'd rather remember them nostalgically than play them again - lol!

I do randomly play PC and Console games, but I'm totally in love with the world's created in online MMOs and will happily jump in one of those whenever I have free time.  Free time being the operative word.  TV watching has dropped of considerably in favor of a bit of PvP or wandering around Norrath, Azeroth, West Virginia or ?

Current MMO favorites: Fallout 76, World of Warcraft (retail/BC), Elder Scrolls Online with random acts of Everquest II, Project Gorgon, Life is Feudal, SWTOR, and Valheim.

Retired/Rarely played.  (SADLY retired)The Secret World (TSW).  A close tie with Everquest II as my favorite!.  Secret World Legends (SWL), Vanilla WoW, Star Trek Online (STO), Age of Conan (AoC), Lord of the Rings (LoTRO), Rift and Guild Wars 2 (GW2), ArcheAge (AA), Black Desert Online (BDO) and likely a few others I've forgotten by now.

On the horizon MMO's: New World (summer 2021).  Still waiting on Star Citizen one day and Repopulation.
